Gender & Number Agreement

Adjectives and articles must match the noun in gender (m/f) and number (sg/pl)

  • ·Most adjectives ending in -o change to -a for feminine: rojo → roja
  • ·Adjectives ending in -e or consonant don't change for gender: grande, fácil
  • ·Plural: add -s after vowel (rojo→rojos), -es after consonant (fácil→fáciles)
  • ·Articles: el/la/los/las (definite), un/una/unos/unas (indefinite)
  • ·Mixed groups use masculine plural: el gato y la gata → ellos son negros
